The infamous property at the core of a Mob-linked contaminated soil saga in Flamborough is up for tax sale.
The rural property at 1771 Highway 5 W. in Troy is known for the 24,000 truckloads of allegedly contaminant-laced dirt — that residents fear will pollute the water in their wells — illegally dumped in 10-metre piles between 2018 and 2019.
The controversial dirt mountains led to years of legal wrangling — including a $75-million lawsuit filed by Waterdown Garden Supplies and principal Gary McHale alleging city involvement in a dirt-dumping scheme . The allegations have been denied by the city and have not been tested in court.
