NEW YORK (PIX11) – Delays are already starting to pick up at New York City-area airports on Saturday as air traffic controller staffing remains low due to the government shutdown.
Newark Liberty International Airport is seeing hour-long ground delays on Saturday due to staffing, according to the Federal Aviation Administration's website.
Anxiety and stress are high as the FAA is requiring 40 major cities to reduce their schedules by 4%. It's an effort to ensure safety during the government shutdown that's affecting employees who are forced to work without pay.
