It is a century since the primary school in Newtongrange opened to children and teachers, and this week this anniversary will be celebrated in style.
A ceremony will be held on Friday to mark the occasion with music, memories and special guests from past and present. The school prides itself on encouraging children to “aspire, believe and achieve”. The school teaches itself to be “kind,respectful, fair, responsible, confident and hardworking”.
The week’s events
On Monday there will be a centenary parade round the village. A photographer will take whole school photo of all 365 pupils in Newtongrange Welfare Park.
On Wednesday teachers and pupils will sing the school song. They will also sing a new composition for the 100 year anniversary. And of course there will be cake with a silent d
