A pregnant woman from the Midwest was told some shocking news at her very first ultrasound.
Savannah Harrington told Newsweek her appointment wasn’t scheduled—it was an emergency scan after she had been experiencing unexpected pain early in her pregnancy .
“I didn’t know it at the time, but I was a lot earlier [in my pregnancy ] than I had initially thought,” Harrington said.
What the doctor saw on the screen stopped her in her tracks : three small, round shapes that looked like potential gestational sacs. Essentially, Harrington was told they didn’t know whether she might be carrying one, two or three babies.
“The doctor didn’t specifically say that it could be triplets, but he did say he couldn’t confirm how many babies there were,” Harrington said.
