A leading UK supermarket has revealed a Christmas turkey shortage with a sought-after product unavailable this festive season.

Sainsbury's has confirmed it faces supply difficulties with its Christmas turkey supply this year.

Customers will be unable to purchase Extra Large British Turkey Crowns this Christmas.

These products were previously stocked by the chain, typically weighing between 2.9-3.1kg and catering for 12 individuals.

Alternatively, Sainsbury's - which competes with Lidl, Aldi, Morrisons, Tesco and Asda - states customers will only have access to small, medium and large options, which feed up to 10 people.
