An 80-year-old man was killed in South Farmingdale on Friday morning by a 24-year-old man who struck him with a stolen car then fled the crash scene, according to the Nassau County Police Department.

The crash occurred around 11:41 a.m. as Peter Morris, 80, of South Farmingdale, was getting into a parked 2012 Hyundai in front of 95 Woodward Parkway, the department wrote in a news release.

That’s when the 24-year-old man, later identified as Randy Colon of Hicksville, struck him with a 2013 Nissan and took off on foot. Officers found him and arrested him.

The news release didn’t say how officers found him or why he’s believed to have been the driver.

Morris suffered serious injuries and was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
