A new daily driving charge will be introduced for millions of motorists by the Labour Party government on November 26, according to reports. The Labour Party Chancellor Rachel Reeves will deliver her Autumn Budget before the end of the month.
And her reported plans for pay-per-mile car taxes 'sends all the wrong signals', experts reckon. The Treasury expects around six million electric vehicle owners to be affected by the levy.
Paul Holland, Managing Director for UK/ANZ Fleet at Corpay, warned that the move risks "sending all the wrong signals". "The Government can't ask drivers and fleets to go electric, then punish them for doing so," Mr Holland stated.
