Eight months after her legal claim against the city of San Bernardino was mocked as an attempted “swindle,” Councilmember Treasure Ortiz has filed a lawsuit in federal court alleging police resources were used to dig up dirt to derail her political campaign.
Ortiz, who claimed she has been living a “nightmare” that she doesn’t want anyone else to experience, filed the suit Nov. 5 in U.S. District Court. Her $2 million damage claim, typically a precursor to a lawsuit, was filed in March and rejected two months later.
