Ahead of a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launch from Cape Canaveral, people on Merritt Island reported seeing a fireball in the sky.

Some social media users thought the fireball was a satellite reentry from a Chinese upper stage rocket.

For people who live on the Space Coast of Florida, it's not uncommon to see a rocket launch in the sky .

But a possible fireball or wayward object ? That's not as common.

Coincidentally, on Saturday, Nov. 8, during a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launch attempt from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, something was spotted in the sky . Social media users posted photos and video online.
