A 65-year-old man has died after a tragic fall at the Grand Canyon. The incident occurred at Guano Point on the western rim, situated on the Hualapai Reservation. According to the Mohave County Sheriff's Office, the man fell approximately 130 feet.

Emergency services were called to the scene, where they worked alongside Hualapai Nation technicians. They employed a pulley system using ropes to recover the man's body from the canyon. The sheriff's office reported, "Search and Rescue responded and located him about 130 feet down on a scree pile."

Technical rope technicians set up a system to lower and raise the body, which was then transported to the Mohave County Medical Examiner’s Office. The sheriff's office expressed gratitude to the Hualapai Tribal Police Department, Hualapai Nation Fire, and Grand Canyon West Security for their assistance in the recovery operation. They also extended their condolences to the victim's family, requesting respect for their privacy during this difficult time.

This incident follows another tragedy in September, when a 27-year-old man died after his vehicle went over a rim near the South Kaibab Trailhead in Grand Canyon National Park. The body of Steven Bradley from Federal Heights, Colorado, was found about 300 feet below the rim.

The identity of the 65-year-old man has not yet been released, and investigations into both incidents are ongoing.
