New Delhi: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) alleged that Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trails (VVPAT) were found dumped on a road in the Sarairanjan Assembly constituency in the Samastipur district in Bihar.
Following the alleged accusations, the Election Commission of India addressed the issue and confirmed that the slips, which are in question, were mock VVPAT slips, generated during the routine testing of Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) before the voting day.
The EC also declared that the Assistant Returning Officer (ARO) has been suspended for negligence, and an FIR has been registered. Adding, the Commission took the incident as a ‘serious lapse’ in the matter of mock slips and also assured that the measures were being enforced.
