New Delhi: To help people living below the poverty line (BPL), the government has launched five different pension schemes under the National Social Assistance Program (NSAP). The NSAP is a fully centrally funded scheme that applies to both rural and urban areas. It is administered by the Ministry of Rural Development. This programme includes schemes such as the elderly pension, widow pension, disability pension, family assistance, and Annapurna. Annapurna provides free food grains to elderly people who are eligible for the old-age pension scheme but are not receiving a pension.
Currently, these five schemes are running under the NSAP:
