VALDOSTA, Ga. (WALB) - Two people were taken to the hospital following an early Saturday morning house fire in Valdosta.

Just after 12:50 a.m., Valdosta Fire (VFD) crews were called to a fire in a single-story home in the 500 block of Jones Street.

In a Facebook post, VFD said crews arrived in less than 3 minutes and found smoke coming from the home’s roof vents and front door.

The two occupants of the home were found safely outside by fire crews. VFD Chief Boutwell said they were transported to South Georgia Medical Center as a precautionary measure for smoke inhalation.

It is currently unknown if they were released from the hospital.

Chief Boutwell told WALB the fire left the home uninhabitable. He added that renovations will be required before it can be reoccupied.
