PHOENIX — An injured hiker was rescued from a trail on South Mountain Saturday morning, according to authorities.

The Phoenix Fire Department said the man injured his leg while he was hiking on the Pima Canyon Trailhead at the Phoenix mountain.

"They were able to use their battalion truck to safely extract the patient off the mountain," a fire department representative said.

The man was taken to an area hospital to be checked out, according to the fire department.
