BAR HARBOR, Maine (WABI) - Bar Harbor residents took to the streets for a very special event, being greeted by a colorful collection of cots and cribs.

The 16th annual Bed Race took place along Cottage St, where spectators lined up at around 10am, some sporting their preferred pair of pajamas.

Participants in the event consist of local organizations who build their respective bed on wheels before competing in a team-based race.

Those who participate every year say that the Bed Race is a very “Maine way” to bond with others in the Bar Harbor community, as tourist season comes to a close and the holiday season begins.
