DULUTH, Minn. (Northern News Now) - The Duluth ‘Girls on the Run’ 5K brought in over 70 runners from five elementary schools.

The girls, aged 9 to 13, took an 8-week course that focused on life skills such as positive self-talk, confidence, and creating positive connections with their peers.

Officials say that combining physical and mental health makes a lasting impact on the girls.

“All of these lessons really set them up for success in adolescence and beyond,” said Girls on the Run MN Development Director Kristi Pogatchnik. “And they love being part of a team and making friends in Girls on the Run and setting that goal and getting that confidence through accomplishment.”
