A 14-point University of Toledo lead evaporated in the second half of Saturday’s men’s basketball game against Marshall, as the Rockets wound up losing 85-73 in front of 4,026 fans at Savage Arena.
The Rockets (0-2) led 29-15 at the 8-minute media timeout and withstood a 13-2 Marshall rally before re-establishing a 10-point lead, 40-30, at halftime.
After the break, however, things went completely Marshall’s way, with the Thundering Herd thriving from the perimeter. They hit 11 of 19 3-point attempts (57.9 percent) after the break, while Toledo made just four of 11 (36.4 percent).
Toledo led 53-47 after two Sonny Wilson made free throws with 14:56 to go when the Thundering Herd (2-0) went on a 14-0 run over the next 3:12. Jalen Speer made two free throws, then Landen Joseph, Wyatt Frick
