A 26-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of an 18-year-old woman in Grandmother's Bay last weekend, Saskatchewan RCMP say.
La Ronge RCMP received a report on Sunday, Nov. 2, of an assault in front of a home in the northern community, where they found an injured man and woman.
The woman died at the scene. She has been identified as Melissa Charles, and 18-year-old from Grandmother's Bay. Her family has been notified, RCMP said in a Saturday news release.
The injured man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
RCMP allege Keyland McLeod, 26, had an altercation with the two victims which led to their injuries. He was arrested in the community shortly after the incident.
