KENNER, La. — Kenner police say 15 people were detained in a large-scale safety operation near the boat launch Friday night.

Kenner Police could not confirm whether the individuals detained by ICE were undocumented.

The department said the joint mission, which included, ICE, the FBI, DEA, and the Louisiana State Police, stemmed from years of complaints about noise, traffic, trash, and harassment in the area.

Chief Keith Conley spoke with WWL reporter Winston Reed about why ICE was involved and addressed concerns about potential profiling:
