HILLSVILLE, VA (LOOTPRESS) – A serious crash on Interstate 77 North shut down all northbound lanes Friday afternoon after an SUV was impaled by a guardrail near the 14.1 mile marker near Hillsville, VA.
According to the Hillsville Fire Department, crews were dispatched at 1:49 p.m. on November 7 to the scene.
When firefighters arrived, they found the SUV blocking the roadway and the driver already out of the vehicle with serious injuries.
Carroll County Fire-Rescue provided medical care and requested air transport. A landing zone was established on the interstate, and AirCare 2 flew the patient to a trauma center for treatment.
The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office and Virginia State Police also responded.
Virginia State Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
