WAUNAKEE, Wis. (WMTV) - Schools across South Central Wisconsin gathered in Waunakee Saturday for the Girls on the Run Fall 5K.
The Girls on the Run program teaches young girls about teamwork, confidence and essential life skills through running. Each season ends with an untimed celebratory 5K.
Jessie-Rae Starr, a coach at Lowell Elementary on Madison’s east side, said the race focuses on personal achievement and empowerment rather than speed.
“This is such a positive environment and its really here to empower girls, and people who identify as girls, and really just meant to kind of uplift them,” Starr said. “Just such a positive day and its just such an amazing thing to be a part of.”
