HERRIN, Ill. (KFVS) - Herrin’s American Legion post raised money to improve the Christmases of veterans and their families with a pig roast on Saturday.
Volunteers served pulled pork, potato salad, beans, and dessert. The event also included a raffle and silent auction.
Daniel Priddy, Post 645 Commander, says the event contributes to the sense of community, “We support all our veterans and their children because it’s trying times now, and we try to take care of our veterans and their families the best that we can.”
Priddy says the money raised at the event will pay for Christmas gifts for veterans and their children.
