BAR HARBOR -- Once per year, the town of Bar Harbor hosts something of a pajama party, where everyone dresses down and flocks to the streets.
Although nearly everyone was clad in pajamas, nobody was sleepwalking or sleep-bed-racing Saturday morning. They were taking part in a beloved tradition on the island, the annual pajama sale and bed races.
"It's quintessential small town weirdness. It's sort of like the tourist season is winding down a bit, let's all come out and do something together, as a community, and it's got this sort of quirky weird vibe where it is so much fun to come and engage with," said local resident and Camp Beech Cliff Director Matt Cornish.
The race is unique: participants compete one team at a time for who can push a handcrafted bed on wheels the quickest down Co
