A man has been left seriously injured after a marked police vehicle collided head-on with his car in Sydney’s west during a search for a driver who failed to stop for officers.
The incident unfolded on Saturday night when police attempted to pull over a white Volkswagen Golf at Dean Park around 10.15pm for a random breath test.
The vehicle allegedly took off, prompting officers to engage in a pursuit.
Police later abandoned the chase after losing sight of the Golf, however the alert was broadcast to other units in the area as patrols continued.
A short time later, a marked police car was travelling along Debrincat Avenue in North St Marys when it collided head-on with a Holden sedan.
The crash left the 47-year-old driver of the Holden with serious injuries.
Paramedics treated the man
