SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) -- In 2016, Brittany lost her life to suicide. That same year, four teams came together to celebrate her life in the first Fight Like a Ninja hockey tournament. Her mom, Angela, is spreading a message of hope as the tournament commemorates its tenth year.
"It's been ten years since Brittany's been gone," said Angela Drake, Brittany's mom and the tournament founder. "But the work we've been able to do over this ten years to help and support so many people and families is just immense. So, I have both tears for the sadness and tears for the pride that we have in what we've been able to do."
This year, 21 teams signed up for the tournament- the biggest year yet. Girls from all over the Midwest traveled for the weekend.
