HUNTINGTON — Marshall's football team fought but fell to James Madison, 35-23, on Saturday at Joan C. Edwards Stadium in its annual "75" game.
“They’ve got one heck of a football team,” Marshall coach Tony Gibson said of the Dukes. “We’ve got a locker room that’s hurting right now for a lot of different reasons. We wanted this game not only for us but for the 75. We put a lot into it. It’s a tough pill to swallow, and my message is that we still have a lot to play for.”
The Thundering Herd outgained the Dukes 414-409 – becoming the first team to record 400 or more yards against a nationally touted defense and the first team to score in the second half against James Madison since Sept. 27.
