ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — A Rockford family is safe after they were chased from their home by a Saturday afternoon fire.

The Rockford Fire Department was called to a home on the 3000 block of Liberty Avenue just after 2 p.m. Saturday.

Fire crews found heavy fire coming from the rear of the home.

A man, his two children, and a family dog were home at the time. They got out safely.

No injuries were reported.

The Red Cross is assisting the family.

The Rockford Fire Department is investigating what caused the blaze.

Damage is estimated at $80,000.
