A 71-year-old man died after he was struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run crash in Dana Point on Friday, Nov. 7, authorities said Saturday.
Deputies responded around noon to reports of a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian near Pacific Coast Highway and Dana Point Harbor Drive, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department said.
They found a pedestrian, identified as Barry William Tutt of La Verne, suffering from severe injuries. Tutt was taken to a hospital, where he later died.
Witnesses told deputies a silver Ford sedan struck Tutt and then fled the scene, the department said. With their assistance, deputies located the driver, identified as 57-year-old Humberto Munoz Gatica of Laguna Niguel.
He was arrested and booked into Orange County Jail on suspicion of DUI and charges relat
