Honolulu police have opened a murder investigation after the body of man with gunshot wounds was found late Friday night in Waipio.

The discovery of the body happened at about 11:15 p.m. and homicide detectives are investigating, according to the Honolulu Police Department.

Police said the Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office will release the victim’s identity, and that no further information would be released immediately.
