POLK COUNTY, Texas — Area residents are being asked to evacuate their homes due to a compromised dam at Carter Lake in Camden Saturday night.
The Polk County Office of Emergency Management said the Carter Lake dam in Camden is compromised and there is damage to the embankment of the dam. Property owners are working to assess the damage.
Homes south of the dam, specifically along Henry Darden Road, Marie Road, Community Drive, Bo Peep, Herb Collins Road and Girard, might be in the path of the potential flooding if the dam breaches.
