KILLDEER, N.D. — The Killdeer Cowboys seemed down and out after the first half of their semifinal game against the No. 6 Bottineau Braves. They had to face a large 24-7 deficit heading into the half and were struggling to execute on both sides of the ball. Whether that was costly penalties at the line of scrimmage, or missed targets.
But the Cowboys came out of the locker room to begin the second half as a completely different team. They rallied for 15 unanswered points in the final 24 minutes of the contest to make it a two-point game. However, a late interception on fourth-and-long halted the comeback effort and sent the Cowboys home packing, and giving the Braves a Dakota Bowl game berth next week at the Fargodome.
