BREWER, Maine (WABI) - When it comes to dressing littles, seasonal gear like winter coats and boots often need to get replaced every year.
The constant cycle of buying and donating kids’ clothes is what gave the owner of Brewer’s Small Talk Maine the idea of hosting a winter gear swap.
This past week, local families were encouraged to donate lightly used children’s coats, mittens and more.
On Saturday, those who donated were able to return and pick out hand-me-downs that fit for free.
Even if folks did not donate, they were able to peruse and purchase the secondhand items.
As a child enrichment center, Small Talk says the swap is a chance to relieve some financial stress many families feel as the holidays approach.
“Regardless of financial situations, nothing is cheap for anyone,”
