LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Louisville Metro Police are investigating after an 8-year-old was shot to death on Saturday.

Officers responded to a call at around 10:30 p.m. of a shooting in the 6900 block of Bardstown Road, on Saturday, Nov. 8.

At the scene, officers found an 8-year-old with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. The child was declared dead at the scene.

LMPD’s Homicide Unit is leading the investigation.

Police say it is too early to determine if the incident was accidental or intentional, or if charges will be filed.
