HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Hawaii Foodbank is holding food distribution events throughout the weekend to help families impacted by the government shutdown.
Families at risk of losing Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits and federal workers impacted by the government shutdown formed a line at Keehi Lagoon Memorial Park.
The foodbank said Saturday’s drive fed 500 households.
Registration for all pop-up food distribution events is required.
Another distribution is set for Sunday morning at Leeward Community College from 8 a.m. to noon, with food available for 1,000 households.
There are a limited number of reservation slots left for pickups from 9 a.m. to noon.
