Am FDNY firefighter died battling a fire in Brooklyn Saturday night, city and fire officials said.
Firefighter Patrick Brady died responding to a five-alarm fire on Kings Highway in Brownsville, officials said.
"It takes courage to put on that uniform, to put your life at risk for others, to answer the call," Mayor Eric Adams said. "There's a reason we call them New York's Bravest, and Patrick Brady personified that bravery."
FDNY First Deputy Commissioner Mark Guerra said Brady's death was the second FDNY line-of-duty death in the last two weeks.
Officials said Brady, who was a Belle Harbor resident, came from a family of firefighters. According to MayorAdams, Brady had two brothers, a cousin and an uncle who are either active or retired firefighters.
