The annual day in November has arrived where veterans are recognized for their service with complimentary meals, salutes, photos plastered around town and thank-yous from strangers. For me, Veterans Day is about more than giving a simple thank you; it’s about internalizing the unpaid sacrifices of veterans and honoring the two people who gave me the ability to live freely in the first place.
