Scott McTominay has urged Napoli to sign Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo in the January transfer window, with the Scotland international speaking to Antonio Conte about his former teammate.

Mainoo has fallen drastically down the pecking order at Old Trafford under Ruben Amorim. After being a regular last term, the 20-year-old has played just eight games so far this term.

Amorim has preferred Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes in midfield in Premier League games, with Mainoo coming off the bench in seven of the first 10 games. However, he was an unused sub in the 2-2 draw at Nottingham Forest and was left out of the squad entirely against Tottenham , due to a knock.
