A cathedral in the North East has been named Europe's most captivating, beating stiff competition from renowned sites such as Notre-Dame Cathedral and Siena Cathedral. According to a survey conducted for Saga Holidays, over half (58%) of UK travellers stated they would travel specifically to visit a cathedral.

Durham Cathedral was hailed as a must-see not only due to its rich history but also because of its connections to the Harry Potter films and its status as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
