Jon Jones' decision to fight UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira isn't a 'logical' one.

That's according to heavyweight legend Alistair Overeem , who told talkSPORT.com that although he views Jones as a 'master strategist,' he isn't sure why 'Bones' has favoured a fight with Pereira over Tom Aspinall .

Jones retired from MMA in June but has since reversed his decision in the hope of fighting at the UFC's White House card in 2026.

The MMA great had been linked to face Aspinall in a heavyweight title bout for months, but constantly dismissed the idea of fighting the Englishman.

Jones reportedly turned down $30million to fight Aspinall before retiring, and the latter has since made his first defence of the belt against Ciryl Gane at UFC 321 .
