Iam indeed humbled to write this article … thank you for the opportunity. Many times, us veterans receive the remark, sometimes with a handshake; “Thank you for your service.” It is greatly appreciated, and obviously from the heart, but what does that actually mean? What message is trying to be conveyed?
I’d like to offer an alternative to that statement, but before I do, let’s dive into what it means to “serve.” As you realize, the profession of arms is quite volatile and unforgiving. It’s not for everyone, nor should it be. As Veterans Day approaches, a lot of veterans reflect upon what they endured and what their friends and squadron mates experienced during their military careers.
