A recalled baby formula was linked to botulism cases in two Illinois infants, state health officials warn.
Two lots of ByHeart Whole Nutrition Infant Formula were recalled on Saturday, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health. The department is advising parents to avoid the formula until further notice.
The two Illinois babies with botulism symptoms had both consumed the powdered formula. According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration , the same formula is linked to an additional 11 suspected botulism cases in nine other states: Arizona, California, Minnesota, New Jersey, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Texas and Washington.
