HENNEPIN COUNTY, Minn. — A former Hennepin County Sheriff's Office employee is charged with theft after allegedly stealing a generator.
According to the criminal complaint, Steven George Labatt took a Honda generator from the Hennepin County Crime Lab. He then allegedly used the generator for an ice fishing trip in February.
Authorities stated that they noticed the generator was missing in early March. The Sheriff's Office said they eventually spent more than $1000 to replace the generator, a gas can, two gallons of gas and air tags that went missing.
The court documents state that Labatt later admitted to taking the generator but said that he allegedly forgot it on the lake after returning home from his fishing trip.
