Passengers at Tenerife's busiest airport have been thrown into chaos after passport machines failed - leaving one woman with her arm trapped in the gates.
Tourists were left in massive queues for biometric passport checks due to the technical failure. Holidaymakers returning to the UK from Tenerife complained that a row of machines which read passports were "useless" and were not working or had consistently rejected valid passports.
The Mirror reports that one woman even got her arm stuck in the glass gates when they closed too soon behind her. She needed to be freed by a lone member of staff who had tried to deal with hundreds of people.
