Communities in Bloom (CiB) Portage la Prairie is focusing on local projects that align with a new national theme, preparing to beautify the city while honouring local heritage and supporting national cancer research.

The local chapter, in partnership with the City, is adopting the 2026 national CiB theme of “Therapeutic Gardens.”

“That’s very interesting to us,” said Cathie McFarlane, Chair of CiB Portage la Prairie. “The first thing you think of is the green space they have at personal care homes and hospitals, but beyond that, there are many areas that are really therapeutic.”

McFarlane noted that the theme covers existing spaces, such as the areas at Douglas Campbell Lodge and the new palliative care garden planned for the hospital. It also encompasses reflective spots like the bench
