Syracuse, N.Y. — An off-duty security officer for Onondaga Community College was wounded in a shooting outside a Syracuse bar early Sunday morning, officials said.

Around 1:05 a.m., the officer was shot outside McAvan’s Pub, 1217 W. Fayette St., according to Sgt. Thomas Blake, a Syracuse police spokesman. The officer’s injuries were not life-threatening, Blake said.

The officer was shot in the right leg, according to Onondaga County 911 Center dispatches.

The officer, part of OCC’s campus safety and security department, is recovering, according to Roger Mirabito, a college spokesperson. He said police have started a criminal investigation.

Police said no arrest has been made.
