SYLVANIA, Ohio — A “deep-seated” fire has kept firefighters busy in Sylvania Township on Sunday afternoon.

According to the Sylvania Township Fire Department, firefighters were called to the two-story brick house on Ramblehurst Road around 2:30 p.m.

When they arrived, firefighters found a fire concentrated in the basement and crawlspace.

More than two hours later, firefighters continued to work on the fire which had since spread to multiple locations throughout the house.

Firefighters had to exercise caution as the home’s floors were “spongy”, according to Sylvania Township Fire.

According to firefighters, the deep-seated nature of the fire, as well as the cold conditions, added to the difficulty in putting the fire out.

Firefighters say the home has suffered significant damage.
