The Miami Dolphins were the laughingstock of the league before first play of scrimmage against the Buffalo Bills .
They got the last laugh .
Playing in their first game since firing general manager Chris Grier and trading edge rusher Jaelan Phillips, the Dolphins managed to draw a penalty and burn a timeout before running a single play. Then they ran all over the Bills.
After a touchback to open the game, Miami lined up for its first offensive play with 15:00 still showing on the clock. Fullback Alec Ingold was called for a false start, to the bewilderment of CBS analyst Jason McCourty, who thought the Bills jumped offsides.
Miami was flummoxed enough to call a timeout, with Ingold and Mike McDaniel pleading their case that Ingold's motion was legal.
