Most people assumed Rob Gronkowski was already retired. He hasn’t played football since 2021.

But before one of his former teams played the other on Sunday, the likely Hall-of-Fame-bound tight end said he’ll sign one more contract on Wednesday with the Patriots . Gronkowski hinted that was likely this summer.

“I am signing a one-day contract this week as a Patriot to retire as a Patriot and be a Patriot for life,” Gronk said on FOX.

Gronk said this in response to a question of who he’d be rooting for in the Patriots-Buccaneers game.

“So I’m going with the Patriots,” he said.

He then suggested that Tom Brady , who has a statue in New England, is a part-owner of the Raiders and works as an analyst for FOX Sports, would be secretly rooting for the Buccaneers.
