A Royal Navy veteran has urged people to use Armistice Day to remember the fallen heroes but also those whom they left behind. Millions across the UK will fall silent at 11am tomorrow, Tuesday, November 11.
The annual Remembrance Day tradition honours those who died during World War I , marking the ending of hostilities in Europe on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month of 2018, as well as World War II and conflicts since.
But one veteran wants people to also think of those left behind. George Walker was only around four years old when he met his father Harry for the only time shortly before he was killed at sea aged 27 during WWII .
