FELTON – In the lead up to the DIAA cross-country championships, Anna Bockius and her Padua coach Marnie Giunta devised a game plan: run measured through the warmer-than-usual November afternoon and be ready for bigger things to come.
That scheme didn't survive the first mile. Bockius sprung from the Killens Pond starting line to the lead and pounded through the 5-kilometer course. Giunta said she "ran out of legs." She came through the finish line almost a minute ahead of the next runner and fell to the grass.
